There are natural monuments situated on the Bucegi Plateau. There are many legends about their formation. Some researchers state that water and wind molded the stones along with the frost and thawing. The type of stones and rocks plays also an important role. But one cannot deny the human intervention in shaping these monuments. Until now, the science has not been able to explain this phenomenon in its entirety and consequently, many legends and stories have issued mentioning the supernatural about the origin of these natural monuments. Babele are located next to the Babele cabin on the Bucegi plateau and the Sfinx is as far as 10 minutes walk from the cabin.
